Anson Maloney, Day 2 Enduro Test

Day 2 of the 2021 ISDE has completed, and the U.S. ISDE Team had another solid outing.  The riders repeated the same 195-kilometer loop as yesterday, but two of the tests were different and the final test was cancelled for the club riders.  No major shakeups to report, just some fast and consistent riding from most of the participants.

The American World Trophy Team remains in 3rd place behind Italy and Spain.  Taylor Robert was the fastest rider of the four once again.  They are just 2 minutes 36 seconds back from the leading team.

In Women’s World Trophy, the ladies stretched their lead out to 5 minutes 47 seconds.  Brandy Richards led the way with a scorching 52-minute ride.  Way to go ladies keep it up!

The Junior World Trophy Team continues to impress with fast rides from all three team members. 48-minute rides from Barnes, Oliveira, and Walton helped them to improve their position from 3rd up to 2nd place at the end of the day.  Great job guys!

The Club Team action is really tight, with 5 U.S. Teams remaining in the top 10.  The GTBN Team remains in 3rd place, but they are only 40 seconds behind the leaders and closing fast.  NGCP/D37/NHHA Team had a great day and moved up from 8th place all the way to 5th.  The MojoMotoSport Team also had a quality ride today, moving up one spot to 6th place.

Josh Knight, Day 2 Enduro Test

Here are the positions (and change) of the remaining Club Teams from the U.S.A. after day 2 -

Trail Pros. US Sprint Enduro – 7th position (-2)

Eric Cleveland Memorial – 9th position (-1)

Elizabeth Scott Community – 29th position (no change)

Missouri Mudders – 30th position (no change)

The MojoMotoSport Club Team riders are all riding extremely well, and seem to be flourishing in the enduro style tests the Italians are putting them through.  After two days of racing, here’s how the men are doing on an individual level out of 468 club riders:

Anson Maloney – 9th in class, 19th overall

Josh Knight – 11th in class, 24th overall

Anthony Ferrante – 15th in class, 36th overall

Day 3 will be the final day of the 195-kilometer course around the Italian countryside before the action moves to the new 198-kilometer loop waiting for the riders.

On a sad note, rider Arnold Staal from the MCCZ Club Team out of the Netherlands passed away while on course today.  No details regarding the circumstances have been released.  No doubt he died doing what he loved.

After 2 days of racing, the American riders look determined and fast.  There’s still a long way to go, but so far, so good.  GO TEAM U.S.A.!!
